From Sydney to Saville

Carmen

All eyes will be on Sydney Harbour tonight, as the Australian Opera takes to the water with their new production of Carmen. Celebrating its second year, Opera On The Harbour will be a pageantry of larger-than-life characters, flamboyant costumes and Bizet’s passionate arias.

But what, you may ask, could you wear to compete with the vitality of these extravagant Spanish rhythms? After all, solders, smugglers, cigarette girls, matadors and flamenco dancers, as done by the Australian Opera, can be quite a challenge to top.

Well, at antique-art-design, we have channeled our inner gypsy and come up with a few selections that do not so much compete but compliment such a well-loved opera and its spectacular setting.

Perhaps the opera itself it best embodied by our Gold, Ruby & Diamond Channel Set Knot Ring, as it represents the entanglements of love and the passion that is intertwined. To represent the simple, infinite trusting love of Micaela, we suggest the classic Solid Silver Heart Shaped Ring.

The Gold, Diamond & Pearl Arrow Brooch is reminiscent of the fickle nature of Carmen’s love; while we suggest the Yellow Gold & Lapis Cufflinks would be useful for Don Jose in future. The colour not only reminds us of our Harbour, but Lapis, when seen in dreams, is believed to foretell love that will be forever faithful.
