A vintage solid silver and oval rutilated quartz pendant neck ring featuring a beautiful oval double sided cabochon of rutilated smoky quartz wrapped with wire and suspended crossways from a hooked graduated rod and hanging from a loop on a graduated shaped square profile neck ring - these iconic elegant and restrained forms are synonymous with Jensen and with the work of Vivianna Torun Bulow Hube, who as a jewellery designer, is considered one of the most progressive and influential designers of the 20th century.  The pendant piece (which is one design of a series of interchangeable pendants featuring various stones) uses one of the most desirable minerals used in this series: rutilated quartz and this piece has particularly fine rutile that shows up most when worn against black or in direct sunlight - we have photographed this against a white ground and against black for you to see the various effects that can be achieved by wearing it in different ways - The neck ring has a clever concealed interlocking opening and this particular design is a larger form and is designed to sit away from the neck.  As a result these sometimes require additional shaping by a jeweller for them to fit the neck of the wearer correctly - this is not an a complex or expensive exercise and should able to be carried out by any competent jeweller if required - pendant marked with interlocking GJ mark for small articles and for design number 133 and Torun for Vivianna Torun Bulow-Hube - neck ring marked with post 1945 marks for Georg Jensen of Copenhagen and design number 167 and Torun - total weight of the set 71grms - overall dimensions of pendant 67 x 44mm - wearable length of necklace 495mm - c.1970 Denmark
