A Victorian 9k yellow gold and Scarab Beetle necklace and matching earrings - a collier of 22 iridescent green elytras from Scarab Beetles four claw set on 9k yellow gold curved backs and interspersed with long oval links with a oval box clasp and safety chain - together with a pair of earrings, each earring consisting of a single elytra of a Scarab Beetle saw claw set witin a 9k yellow gold flat raised bezel and back suspended on a small chain and hook and ball earring fittings - Scarab Beetles represent rebirth and regeneration and symbolise eternal life - unmarked apart from 9ct on the clasp and the back of one earring - total weight of the necklace 19.4grms - total weight of earrings 1.8grms - wearable length necklace 435mm width 15mm - total length of earrings including hook 34mm width 10mm - c.1890 England
