The sounds of Christmas
This year’s performance of the Messiah at the Opera House will revive the oratorio’s 18th century association with charitable support.
The premiere of Messiah, in Dublin, was given in aid of several charities, and in a return to tradition, the proceeds from the concerts will be shared with the Children’s Hospital with volunteers at all performances to collect donations.
It features a line-up of great soloists, featuring Miriam Allan Soprano, Sally-Anne Russell Mezzo-Soprano, Andrew Goodwin Tenor, Peter Coleman-Wright Baritone.
The performance will also incorporate the Sydney Philharmonia Symphony Chorus, Massed Choirs, and Orchestra, conducted by Brett Weymark.
There are three performances – Thursday 12 December 7pm, Saturday 14 December 1pm and Sunday 15 December 5pm, Concert Hall. Tickets are available from $45.
