A sterling silver abstract round textured brooch - a rare graduated circular brooch in the form of a crowd of people with a rollover clasp closure to the pin at the back - marked for Stuart Devlin of London 1982 - Devlin's combinations of texture and contrasts made him an innovator in silver design whose influence is still being felt today - originally from Australia, and although most would not know that they have handled Devlins designs nearly every day (he designed Australia's first decimal coinage and went on to design coins and medals for 36 other countries), he rose to global recognition in London in the mid sixties and as a result has become one of the most sought after silversmiths of the twentieth century - total weight 22grms - diameter 55mm - 1982 England
