An historic antique commemorative Continental silver and crystal claret jug with a silver band and hinged lid from which extends a silver handle which is mounted on a ball shaped crystal body with a wheel cut wrythen ribbed design. Inscription to the lid reads "Kaiserlicher Yacht-Club Kiel, den 28, Juni 1893." - the Kaiserlicher Yatch Club founded in Kiel in 1891 was the Imperial Yacht Club of which German Emperor Wilhelm II and Prince Heinrich of Prussia were founding members, the date inscribed corresponds with the major racing carnival in Kiel known as Kiel week - marked for 800 Continental silver and for M.Hansen along with a number 16416 - total weight 960grms - overall dimensions height 185mm - diameter of body 144mm - 1893 Germany
